The 2011 Holiday Season is Here
The Farmington Area Goodfellows holiday operations are now in full swing. Our mission: "No child or Senior without a Christmas". Throughout the month of December, we have collection boxes at both Farmington Public Libraries, Costick Center, and Talmer Bank (downtown Farmington Branch only). Our year-round collections boxes are also available at both City Halls, the Farmington Library (downtown Farmington branch only) and the Jon Grant Community Center. We have been fortunate once again to have a local business owner donate a warehouse for our efforts. This year we are located on 24400 Sinacola Court in Farmington Hills 48335.
We have several upcoming fundraising events. You can catch free movies (Shrek the Halls & The Polar Express) or Nutcracker Suite performances at the Farmington Civic Theater on December 3rd and 4th. The "Battle of the Middles VII" basketball game featuring the teachers and administrators from Dunckel and Warner vs. Power and East will take place on December 16 at Farmington High School. Check our web site calendar for details, suggested donations and locations for each of these and other local Goodfellows events.
We expect to once again serve over 400 children, families and seniors in Farmington and Farmington Hills this year. Our all-volunteer efforts rely on the kindness and generosity of local residents and businesses to serve the most needy in our community in these challenging economic times. We are in need of donations of canned and non-perishable foods, new books, and new toys. Cash donations are also critical to our mission. We are a 501c3 public charity, and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent permitted by IRS regulations.
Cash donations are greatly appreciated and may be mailed to:
Farmington Area Goodfellows
31555 W. Eleven Mile Road
Farmington Hills, MI 48335
If you would like to volunteer to help out at our warehouse, or help us on the morning of December 17 for our "Delivery Day", please subscribe to the appropriate Farmington Area Goodfellows email list and we'll be in touch. We are also available by telephone during warehouse hours at (248) 473-1360 until the end of the season.
Giving to the Goodfellows, whether in the form of food, toys, books, money or your time, is a wonderful way to help support those in need in our community. We hope you'll join us in our efforts to help others this holiday season.
