Neighborhood House is a local charity supported totally by our local community that provides help to local needy families and individuals in Farmington and Farmington Hills. Neighborhood House is an affiliated organization with the Farmington Area Goodfellows and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2014.
Neighborhood House was started by Dick Tupper, long-time head of the Farmington Area Goodfellows and a major community leader and supporter, to provide assistance to local needy families and individuals throughout the year in addition to the help that the Goodfellows provides at year end during the holiday season. Over the last two years, Neighborhood House has provided financial assistance to over 500 local needy families and individuals to help them with their rent, heating bills, electric bills, and water bills.
Neighborhood House also has provided food from its food pantry to nearly 500 local needy families and individuals over the last two years, as well as referrals to other agencies and resources in the area and region that provide help. Neighborhood House is more important and significant to our local community today than ever, acting more and more as a safety net as other governmental and social resources that provide help have become less and less available.
While there are a number of worthy charities in the area and nationally, contributions to Neighborhood House are very important and beneficial because they stay here locally to help needy families right here in our own communities of Farmington and Farmington Hills. We're here to help you. Loretta Zahn, our Client Support Specialist, can help connect you with local agencies that provide support services directly related to your needs. Our Food Pantry gratefully accepts donations from the community in drop boxes just inside the front doors of both Farmington and Farmington Hills City Halls.
